MEF facilitates trainings on Public- Private Partnerships (PPP) for KCC members

Organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, began today the training cycle on Public- Private Partnerships for employees of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) and various businesses. The trainings began at the KCC headquarters to follow with trainings in regional offices in the coming weeks.

PPPs continue to be a reliable, experienced and stable source of income for the private sector and simultaneously very effective tool for providing infrastructure and services for the public sector.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Ahmet Shala, who is in the same time also Chairman of the PPP Inter-ministerial Steering Committee, said that ”these trainings are aimed at increasing knowledge of the business community on Public- Private Partnerships and the way how can the Kosovo society benefit in the best way possible from these forms of public projects funding and execution, where risks between public and private sector are clearly divided”.
Meanwhile, the President of Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Besim Beqaj, praising the start of this cycle of training on PPPs added that this will pose a very good opportunity for further development of cooperation between Kosovar businesses and the public sector.
Advisers of Kosovo Partnerships, which is a PPP Central Unit in the Ministry of Economy and Finance, briefed the participants over the PPP Law, ways of implementing PPPs and Potential projects in this field, such as Pristina International Airport, which is the first project of this kind in Kosovo.
Head of Kosovo Partnerships, Mr. Lorik Fejzullahu stressed that PPPs offer Kosovo an opportunity to modernize and expand its public infrastructure and services. Now with the new Law for Public- Private Partnerships has been harmonized the institutional and legal framework so that ministries, POEs, municipalities, other budget organizations and private businesses can begin the PPP implementation in many sectors.
