The Inter-ministerial Committee for the project Private Sector Participation in PTK, held today the regular meeting in the presence of Ambassadors of the Quint countries, ICO, the European Commission and World Bank.
At the meeting, was presented the progress achieved regarding the analysis of alternatives for private sector participation in PTK by the Transaction Advisor and steps to be undertaken in the future in terms of project implementation under the envisaged dynamics. In his speech, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Ahmet Shala once again reiterated the commitment of the Government of Kosovo to provide a favourable environment for investors in the Republic of Kosovo, including private sector participation in PTK. Quint states ambassadors, who attended this meeting, fully supported the project and transmitted the interest of investors from the countries they come. Minister Shala, who is also the chairman of the Inter-ministerial Committee for this project, expressed his satisfaction with the dynamics of project advancement so far and also expressed his belief that this process will be completed, as planned in 2010. In addition, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Ahmet Shala, noted that government policies for the field of telecommunications are based on free market, liberal and genuine competition. He stressed that the legal framework for this area is in accordance with the aspirations of Kosovo State for European Integration. At this meeting it was concluded that the coming months will be of particular importance for the process of private sector participation in PTK. In addition to receiving the reports from the Transaction Advisor and analyzing the decision at the government level, during this period is expected Kosovo Assembly takes a decision for private sector participation in PTK. In March will be organized a roundtable with potential investors in PTK.
